Eurostat: Bulgaria has the highest mortality rate

ulgaria has the highest mortality rate not only in the EU, but in entire Europe, shows the Eurostat data for 2012, published yesterday.

According to the statistics, in Bulgaria died 15 people in each 1000, while the average in the EU was 9.9 per 1000.

Above Bulgaria are Lithuania, Latvia and Hungary with mortality rates of 14.3, 13.7 and 13 per 1000, respectively.

The lowest mortality rates are in Ireland – 6.3 per 1000, Cyprus, Luxemburg and Malta.

Ireland also has the highest birth rate – 15.7 births per 1000, followed by Great Britain – 12.8, France 12.6, Sweden and Cyprus.

Bulgaria has a birth rate of 9.5 per 1000, which places it in the middle of the list. The average birth rate in the EU is 10.4 per 1000.
